What is a podcast?

The word “podcast” is a combination of two words actually: “iPod” and “broadcast.” These two words, separately, give a pretty good indication as to the meaning of the word podcast. (An iPod is a portable music player—much like a walkman—manufactured by Apple)

At the risk of oversimplification, a podcast is an audio show that is instantly distributed through the internet—to computers and portable music devices around the world.

Think of it as a traditional radio talk-show that’s transmitted by way of the internet instead of radio waves.
